Learning how therapy helps everyone involved when we are open and honest to making changes.

I don’t know how many inmates see a therapist during their time incarcerated. I have been meeting with a therapist regularly for my entire term and I believe it has helped me grow a lot. Seeing a therapist has helped me cope with the most difficult moments and gain new perspectives on issues I am dealing with. I feel that all inmates could really benefit by seeing someone that is safe, a professional to share thoughts and emotions with. That is why I believe this book ay be a powerful tool for anyone thinking about starting therapy and wanting to know how the process really works.

In this book we meet a therapist that discusses the cases of her clients while also sharing her own personal journey through starting therapy. Reading this book I found it powerful how much individuals were able to grow once they decided to work through their struggles with honesty. In my own journey in therapy I have seen that my best moments of growth have been when I have been the most open and honest, I have learned to better trust myself and others this way.

Another major take away I had reading was how so many peopel in this world are dealing with similar problems. It is so easy to feel alone when you are incarcerated, to feel like a forgotten soul that has to work through this hard life alone. Reading this I saw how people everywhere are struggling with the same things I am in that it made me not as alone and hopeful that there are always ways forward. My hope is that anyone else that might read this book can feel that connection and not give u on tomorrow’s growth.

If you are thinking about seeing a therapist for the first time, but maybe you might be afraid because you believe you are too broken to fix, read this book and realize you are not alone.
